I have replaced a couple of number plates on my car and the wifes recently with plates from Halfrauds.

Each and every plate from Halfrauds begins to peel appart and water gets in and it looks shabby.  The white/yellow backing comes away from the plastic.

Can anyone recommend a local (Glasgow area) supplier who can make up numberplates that will last more than a few months before letting water in.

I'm not after silly backgrounds or ones with twee letters or spacings, just standard stuff.

Ta

the home of number plates, there's a branch in Whiteinch. take the 1st ramp as you exit the clyde tunnel and at the top of the ramp it's directly opposite as you reach the junction with dumbarton road

Didn't know Formula One in Renfrew were still trading, fair play to them.  They were near to the Vauxhall dealer, Fergusons of Renfrew weren't they?

A year on, my front number plate, from Halfrauds has peeled again, as has the wifes one again from Halfrauds.  As I've got some time off I thought I'd get one from one of the places above, Stevie mentioned Jepson, at Whiteinch but looking at google maps to see where it was it looks shut down and these is a sign above the shop saying 'To let', anyone confirm?

Anyhoo the Number plate Centre is just along the road.

Thought I had better replace the front number plate on mine before it goes for an MOT.  As I need wiper blades and the only place to get ones that fit properly and have the correct blade profile is BMW, I'd asked them for a price for a number plate.

Less than a tenner was the response from the helpful chap at Fairbairn Parts!

So why have I been paying £16 for ones from Halfrauds that fall apart after a year?

Cos I'm a diddy, that's why!

I've since been to Eastern BMW for plates and found them very reasonable.

I've always got mine via the internet. That way I don't have to have the makers name or post code, just the registration number - looks much nicer IMHO

Cheers guys.

Just out of interest Pitsy, when buying plates on line, does the vender then check the legality of the ownership? Both Halfrauds and BMW want to see id and to the V5.

Funny, I was only discussing this this evening. Nope, no checks, give them the number, pay them, and your plates arrive - "show plates" of course.

But I agree, a big black hole in the legality of obtaining registration plates and open to misuse.
