Hi all,

I'm a new forum member so I apologise in advance if I've picked the wrong place to post this:

I have an L reg 320i SE and I live in Bracknell, Berkshire (home of BMW's UK Head Office I believe!). I have 2 issues:

1). The car needs a service. If I take it to an official BMW garage I'm sure they'll sting me financially. Does anyone know of any decent unofficial garages in this area that can give the car a service AND re-set the little status lights on the dashboard? Would there be any issue with me taking the car to an official Beemer dealer *just* to get the lights reset after getting it serviced elsewhere?

2). The car appears to make a thudding noise when going over bumps. Obviously this is the first thing I will be getting looked at at the service. The noise appears to be near or above the back wheel on the drivers side. Considering BMW's are pretty well insulated it seems rather loud. I have to be driving at approx 25 MPH and over small but regular bumps in order to hear the noise. My first thought was that it was a brace that should be holding the exhaust thats come lose but after getting under the car and poking and wobbling everything I could see, I was unable to replicate the thudding sound. I've emptied my boot out incase it was something lose in there, and also had the back wheel nust tightened on both sides, but I still get the noise. Any ideas?
