Sorry for such a Newbie question folks, but I'm a Newbie to BMW ownership (1 year only - 1986 320i 2dr and now a 5) and also new to this forum.

I am told it is easy to find out the OE factory fit for my BMW, from the Chassis number.

As I have a few loose end wires, and various other "Oddities", I would like to know what the car had on when new.  I am the 5th Owner, prev. owners have removed stuff.  Whilst I'm not a restoration to showroom condition type of person, I would like to put all the original gear back...so long as it is easily accessible from scrapyards etc.

Any of you folks help me, if I give you my Chassis number?

regards.

You will need to give your chassis # to the dealer, they might do it over the phone, or you may have to pop in and ask some nice person on the service/parts desk for the information.

Thanks for that.

I thought one of you guys would be able to "Bypass" the Dealers, they probably charge for such a service.

And yes, I realise as a 5 owner, I should have posted it to 5 series tech. forum.

This is one thing BMW doesn't charge for!

Also as a 3 series owner i probably shouldn't be here either !

Hi Paul,

Look on search for clubmember BOYBIMMERM3, send him a E-mail with your questions, he was very helpful with me regarding a sat/nav problem.

Not too sure how he does it but he had a list of OE equipment fitted to my car off the chassis number

Good Luck

hi mate

I have got a cd rom, with all the part numbers for BMW cars from 1983 onwards & all the service & technical manuals for the 3,5,7,8 & M series & the BMW Mini.

They are all on cd rom, can send you a copy if you like, it will save a fortune on garage fees.

Type in your chassis number, & this programme will sort you out.

Dan
