Passed the 70,000 km barrier today (which in old money works out at about 43,500 miles) in my 2003 E39 525i Sport Individual.

Had my NCT (the Irish MoT) last week and there were no issues at all; when I was chatting with the tester, he said that it was the cleanest car he had seen all day - no small leaks or anything, no give in the joints.

In the two and a bit years since I bought her, apart from usual servicing, the only 'fixes' required were the windscreen washer pump and 4 new sets of rubber (the original tyres were on her until recently).

Sorry for the bragging but, for once, I feel good!

Not at all that's always a good sign and one to shout about.  Putting the car in for its MOT causes me no end of stress, so a good result is always worth shouting about.

That is indeed low miles on your wagon.

How do you exactly do you measure play in suspension joints?  I got a couple of minors at my last MOT that identified 'movemement' in some rear suspension arms but BMW failed to pick that up 6 months later.  When I had a worn ball joint at the front it was quite obvious to see and feel the play when jacked up.
Be exclusive and drive a Petrol 5 Series!
