Ah yes, the Mitsibushi Lancer EVO................the most facelifted car in history. The kind of car that I would love to drive but don't think I would ever own. Too hardcore to drive everyday I suspect.

Entering an age of Austerity and now driving a Focus Diesel.

Hi.

These power claims are genuine. You should get between 16-22bhp just by bolting this kit on. The manifold is an extensively modified M50 manifold with all the bits and pieces needed to fit it, along with the big bore throttle body.

This kit will fit 323/328 models. It is probably the best value mod that is available for this particular model.

I can supply the whole manifold/body kit for £300 if you don't have traction control. or £350 if you do.

email alpina527@aol.com

@ Alpina527.... What time / difficulty is involved in fitment? I'm in Ireland and so would have to get it shipped over and fitted here. (mine is a non-TC 95 328is)

From what I've heard, Ian's kit is a decent way to liberate some bhp from the 328.

I would still like to know whether the torque is affected (good or bad).

One of the other members of this forum called 'Barf' had it rolling roaded. He got 21bhp and 11lb/ft torque increase. My kit includes the throttle body which also helps the torque figure.

From looking at the engine is it immediately recognisable this modification has been performed or does it just look like the original manifold?  ie for insurance purposes?

If you know what you are looking for!! The M50 manifold has bigger branches, but unless the insurance inspector is a BMW buff he wouldn't notice!! Check out the pic of my engine below and see if you can tell.

I can also vouch for this mod!!!

I have noticed no decrease in torque, if anything it feels better low down, and will pull alot better higher up - also sound better!!

Just need to speak to Ian about the big TBs!!

I was planning on getting a K&N panel filter soon.. how much increase would I be likely to expect coupled with the M50 conversion?

The panel filter may give you a couple of horses if any! A cone filter would be better as its the box which is restriction.

The M50 manifold will give you about 15-20bhp extra - so with a cone filter and m50 manifold you would be looking around 215-220bhp as oppose the std 193bhp.

A proven 229bhp has been given with filter, manifold, ECU chip and bigger bore throttle bodies - the main power increase comes from the manifold.

Not forgetting the all-important heatshield Dave :)

(those M52's kick out an awful lot of heat)

Right then.

I fitted this kit sat/sun as most of you know and although not RR'ed yet I can confirm:

No loss of torque 800-1500 RPM

slight let-up (torque flattens) at 1500-2000

strong pull from 2000 right up to redline with no let up.

4000 RPM+ 3rd, 4th and 5th gear is really awesome compared to friday!

0-100 feels like it is much much quicker now.

I am still running in the ancilliaries at the mo, so the 1500-2000 will probably "heal up" soon, and at 5pm tonight she will have 5 green leds instead of 1 orange- that always makes her happy!!

I'll keep you posted.
