Hi

Is it mandatory to be a member of the club in order to take advantage of the track day at Rockingham?  I'm not a member at the moment and I hear that the track day is under subscribed at the moment.

Paul,

No you don't need to be a BMWCC member, any one is welcome

You do need to book in advance though, you got your car running then?

Hmm I thought you would say that, but on the T&C's on the tickets ordering page, it says that you have to have a valid BMWCC membership card.

Car isn't running just yet, but there's very little in the way now!! (i'm going to regret saying that aren't I!!)

Hi

I understood that to book track time you do need to be a full BMW Car Club member.

I hope someone can clear up this situation! I was told recently it was OK for anyone, but as i don't track my cars I can't speak from true experience, sorry if i mis-lead anyone, hopefully they will let you attend with out being a BMWCC member.

I hope so!  I've put a shed load of time and money into the car trying to get it running for the 6th, so fingers crossed!  Seems pointless trailering the car there just to have it sat in the field!

I need an official anser on this please!

The Terms of the Car Clubs insurance require, any Driver taking part in an On circuit drive, to be a Member of the Insuring Club. Other posts have already stated , that you must be a Club member to go Ontrack.and also the booking form page.

I think you would have gained many more track day attendees without this stipulation.  I would have thought the track day organisers would have considered the "wider" audience that was likely to attend.  ahh well, it was going to be a full day booking too!

It's a shame that we wont be seeing you on track, but it does seem it is a stipulation of the insurance that you are a BMWCC member, to be honest i don't see what difference it makes, but insurance is insurnce... love it or hate it ! it's there to protect someone in the long run.

The differance it makes, is that if you are a Club member YOU have protection-thats WHAT you paid for, someone is looking after YOUR interests , thats what the Long run is for, YOU.The wider audience is most welcome, if they wish to join the Car Club , pay the joining fee, and have their Member interests in Insurance matters looked after , if driving on track.

Come and join the party!

What's wrong with you guys?  Have you got something against becoming a member of the BMWCCGB?  I would have thought that you would be keen to join the biggest and best club which supports your marque! surely it would be in your interest?

As far as I am led to understand the track day at Rockingham on the 6th has been organised by the BMWCCGB for members of the BMWCCGB and in particular for E30 owners as part of the 21st Birthday celebrations.

Regards

Richard

Richard 100% correct!!! But also, as has been posted so many times, anybody with an Interest in BMW is welcome. The Workers of this Club, give so much time , often without thanks, to see others enjoy their efforts. The club does not make a profit, it finance,s events for the benifit of its Members, even if the event makes a loss.Members of the Club play by its rules, a lot of them were voted for by those same members, for others that want to play by their own rules, its a democracy--So Goodby!!

Don't get me wrong here guys, I just think that you'd have been able to attract even more people to the event if the track day was open to non-members.  I understand the limitations of your insurance policy.

Can you give me an idea of how busy the track is going to be?

Hi All, just been reading this thread. I was under the impression that whilst the day's event has been organised for the E30's 21st Birthday, the track event is organised by the M Power Section with E30s getting priority in the bookings.
Come on guys the Club runs some great 'Better Driving' Days through the year with pretty well behaved members looking after each - no rice eating maniacs!

Hi Guys

Can someone tell me if I need separtate insurance for my self for track use at Rockingham or am I covered by the club if i have an accident and damage my car?

If I need separate insurance can someone recommend a company and any ideas on costs?

You will need to arrange your own cover. I have used competition car insurance in the past but now have cover via AON as I have a policy with them.
