I am looking to change my standard 16" rims on my E46. Anyone know which sizes will fit as standard and what correct tyre sizes/offset should I choose to keep the correct gearing? Also I have read on a few sites about the need to role the arches, I guess this is when the tyres are rubbing but what exactly is involved? I have standard suspension at present but may in the future upgrate to somthing sportier. |

ive been rebuilding my e36 328 coupe for a while now, and ive decided to fit 265/35/18's on the back, which will give pretty much the same rolling radious as the standard wheels, but im gona have to flare the arches loads to fit em in, this site http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/index.html?menu.html&tyre_bible.html, is good for working out tyre ratios, but all depends what you want. i think 225/40/18s is a pretty safe size of wheel and tyre to fit, and shouldnt cause any probs.

my e36 coupe is running on 255/35/18 at the rear,on schnitzer suspension, and there has never been any sign of rubbing am i just lucky or are the arches rolled at the factory? the original rims were 8.5" with 245/40/17 |

I have 225/45 X17 which need no mods but I think they generate a bit more road noise than the 16's. |

If you go with Genuine BMW wheels designed for the e46 you will not have a problem although bare in mind the bigger you go the harder the ride will be and the more the car will have a propensity to tramline on lorry bumps. E46 M3 wheels will require the arches to be rolled. as for the choice of wheels there are hundreds you can go with, but if it was me i would o with either a BMW rim or a BMW endoursed tuners rim for example Alpina, Hartge, Snitzer, Racing Dynamics, Dinan, Hanman etc. |
