The problem with painting the floor is that concrete becomes friable when exposed to air and paint won't stick to the dusty laitence.  There's two solutions.

1. Cover the garage floor with an epoxy-type product, leave until it turns tacky and then paint.

2. Remove the friable layer with brick acid (hydrochloric acid) etching fluid.  You can probably get this from a builders merchant.  Wash the floor thoroughly, then paint.

I've used route 2 twice in the past and will be doing it again this weekend on a new property.  I buy the components from http://www.industrial-flooring.co.uk

Go to 'product list', 'surface prep' for the etching fluid.

Go to 'product list', 'paints and coatings' for concrete floor paint.  I'm using mid-blue this weekend which matches the blue in the BMW roundel.

Apply the paint with a roller stuck on the end of a broom handle.  Dust the first coat with some fine sand if you want a non-slip surface.

you can buy garage floor paint, comes in a variaty of colours and is oil/petrol resistant, and should be available thru any DIY chain, such as Homebase/B&Q etc, just ensure the base in clean before painting, and allow to dry thoroughly before use.

Hi,

Hope I have got the right group within the Forum...

I have moved into a new house and can now house my 328 in it's own garage.  The floor is still bare concrete, but I want to create that clean, painted, German workshop floor look...!

Any ideas, suggestions on what i should use, or who to get the paint/sealant from?

Kevin
