If you look around the various Mobil websites for info. re: their oil, I think you will find precious little mention of mineral oil made by them. Is someone at ML telling you little porkies?

If only they had told owners of Triumph Stags during that car's production life.....

Mobil 1 is a synthetic, and costly with it!

Castrol Magnatec also changed last year to a synthetic specification. My BMW tech recommends this one for the older engine; he thought I was spending far too much on Mobil 1...

You want to run that car on a high grade good quality Mineral oil. The car was designed to run on mineral rather than synthetic so you can't go wrong with this. Buy a good quality company like Mobile 1 or Castrol would be my advice. You could also probable get away with a semi synthetic, but i would not go full synthetic. Remember though the secret to a long lifed engine is plenty of oil services at regular intervals. I change my oil every 3000 miles of there abouts.

Tomorrow I collect my 1982 635 CSi, I am servicing it with the help of a mechanic friend next week and to keep costs down I shall be buying the oil etc required.

The car has over 265000 miles on the clock, so what would be the most suitable engine oil to buy that will look after the engine the best way, please?
