can some one tell me where the central locking control unit on my 91 318is is located.

the control unit is below the speaker in the drivers side footwell. you will need to remove the speaker first to gain access to it then undo 2 screws and it should come out upwards through the hole where your speaker was.

is this a common problem on the central locking then ?

the control units fail??

currently gone on my E30 - just haven't yet fixed the problem.
What are your symptoms?
Mine is intermittent so a bit of cleaning may sort it out [hope so as the module is $$$ from the dealer]
Current: 2009 E60 520d "Sport" tractor
Previous: 1989 E30 320i SE
1997 E39 523i
2003 E39 525i Sport Individual

try scrapyards first as there are loads of e30s just sittin. i paid a fiver for my last one.

 it was corroded wires in the multiplug in the a post.
