Welcome aboard

Hae a wee search of the site - there's been plenty of chat about tuning BMWs with the chip/filter arguments done to death and exhaust manufacturers recommended.

Unfortunately, the M40 doesn't respond well to these mods. I know of a few cars with chip & filters which should NO improvement, and a few which had a disimprovement.

There is roller follower kit available in Germany which helps durability and mid range performance. Otherwise, you'd be much better off putting your money into the suspension. A second hand rear antiroll bar from an M3/325i/318is would be a good start, then a second hand set of Eibach or H&R springs from eBay with a new set of Bilstein or Koni dampers. Thereafter, put the best set of tyres on that you can afford. With this you can keep momentum up in corners to make up for the lower horsepower of your engine.
