6 Cylinder oil consumptiom

   Hi Guys,
Some of you have probably read some of my previous posts regarding Nickasil and excessive oil consumption. I thought that my 97 320i had bore wear due to the rate of oil it was using (Over 1 liter per 1000 miles)
I spoke to a man who knows the E36 fairly well as he used to be a BMW mechanic and I told him about the oil comsumption. He said that there was a chance that something called an "inlet breather pump" needed replacing. If this thing is on the way out, it causes oil consumption to go up. This happens only on the sixes apparantly. Can anyone shed any light on this ?
Any thoughts/comments/opinions welcome
