The obscene cost of Alpinas raised its head in a previous thread.

I happened to get re-directed to the German version of eBay recently and after tracking a couple of sets of Alpinas noticed that not only are they more available in Germany - either as singles or full sets - but they seem to be a good deal cheaper than any I've seen in the UK.

Even black centred period alpinas seem to come up regularly.

Just a thought - but I wish I'd tried this route before shelling out for my Alpinas over here!!

Trouble is, a lot of them want paying by "direct debit" or "wire transfer". Can be quite tricky if you've never used either method before for international transactions...

Meanwhile, back here in good ol' WCUK, I've just unearthed some part-used Michelin TRX tyres, for a fraction of what a new one would cost...

I think we can start retiring the Avons now...
