what oil is the best choice 4 a 525i sport 1991,ive been running it on thinsectic but its abit ratterly on start up but after that its allright any thoughts

Have a look on the 3 series forum and see what I've advised there.  But in the meantime put Magnatec Semi-Synthetic. It's �17 from Halfords for 4.5l.  Fully Synthetic is too thin for an engine of that age, it was designed in the 80's remember.

I agree, I had a J reg 525 and had no problems with Magnatec.
