    Posted: 19-February-2003 at 10:26

Having joined the club with the hopefull intentions of getting a policy for the car i recieved my papers through today (nice mag by the way)

I called the insurance department up and as the car is not garaged they cant even quote me for insurance !!

They didnt want to know where i lived, that i had full NCB or that i have no points, just that i didnt have a garage, goodbye sir !!!

Please do yourself a favour and drop these idiots and get a company who WILL QUOTE people !!!

These people are a joke !

Can you be a little more accurate? The club has a number of advertisers in the mag. Who have you had a problem with?

Also bear in mind that it all comes down to how much of a risk you are. A good 10-15 companies I tried would insure me simply as I was under 30 in a 328i. Don't get mad. Shop elsewhere :-)

Just seen your clean car post - it would help if you set your post in context. You drive what - to an insurance company - is a heavily modified car! No wonder the run of the mill guys won't touch you!

I thing the Car Club is good overall, however I have found a good insurer who will happily accept modified cars and do not penalize over not having a garage.

I run a H27 E30 convertible (M3 equivalent insurance) and have fully comp, legal protection, breakdown, protected no claims, european cover and pay £495 (last year was £520 but they automatically offered a reduction this year).

I am not connected to the company!!

They are FOOTMAN JAMES on 0121 561 4196. They are not the quickest at answering the phone, but the wait is worthwhile.

My car was recently vandalised and there was no problem with their response, the car was painted by the bodyshop of my choice. Great service.

They MAY be able to offer you a better deal, its worth a try is it not ??

Did you try Chris Knott?

They worked out by far the cheapest for me, and my car isnt garaged either

Best Wishes

I am in the process of insuring my Hartge H26. Im 22 years old with 3 yrs NCB. The best quote i got was from Adrian Flux for £1030 fully comp. Granted i live in a good area and that i said it would be garaged but i think thats not too bad seeing as other companies wanted about the same for a standard E30 325i!!

Watch that Flux lot, they've caused me no end of grief...

I found the AA were pretty good with my Sport Evo - no need to garage it either!

Footman James take some beating, I've got 2 yrs no claims, 37 yrs old and drive an E28 M5 for the princely sum of £363 fully comp. I have a garage but cars can be stolen from garages just the same. A friend kept his car in his garage when the roof collapsed. His insurance company took 9 months to cough up, you can't win.

I tried esure.co.uk , they seem good but... if you have the bm as a second car as I do, so I only have 1 years ncb on it, full ncb is on my van, which is a comercial poloicy and needs full ncb, then esure wont quote

You must have at least 4 years ncb to get a quote from them

Best Wishes

you complaining about insurance wonder who makes it so high,

people who go no insurance etc, I have two accidents which weren't my fault and these people have no insurance so as usual the honest man pays even the police are too busy!!

plus not forgetting the guest appearance of joy riders, vandals thiefs etc

but.... if they weren't any of the above could the industry survive i think not!

onward and upward vigilantes!
