Does anyone know anything about these cars?

Like:-
      How many were made?
      What their specification is?
      What they're worth?
      etc.....

Thanks!

Total figure made is 38,613.

Spec is as follows

De-chromed, M-tech steering wheel, M-tech suspension, Spoilers, front and rear, and BMW sport seats, everything else was optional, including fog lights etc.

Value seems to go between £800 - £2000, with some very rare M-tech kitted cars (like the kit on the car in my sig) go for slightly more.

Well - thank you guys - come up trumps again!

If it's still around, I'll go and check it out tomorrow.

("She who must be obeyed" has never forgiven me for chopping in the 325iSE for an M3 - steering wheel on the "wrong side" and all that!!)

Simon,

Why not go for another 200 cc and get the 320is?

Mark

I know but it would enable Simon to remain in LHD mode and not get confused.

according to BP's site (link in my  post above):-
"Even so, the 318is is a relatively rare car with 41,234 being made (out of a total of 2.2 million E30's = 1.86%). 9,442 were made in 1990, 29,171 in 1991 and 2,621 in 1992. "

OK, looked at the 318is, and she is a sweet car.

Bit of cosmetic rust - but hey, what do I expect?
Engine is sound, (nearly) everything works (**** electric mirrors!), drives & stops straight.

AND it has LOADS of history - back to day 1

Anyway, SWMBO is coming to look at it on Saturday, and subject to her approval, it's ours (hers?)

Maybe you'll see her (the 318is, not SWMBO!) at Gaydon?

SWMBO took the 318is for a drive, liked it, so now its ours - rumour is now that she will be coming to Gaydon - yes both of the - SWMBO & the 318!!

(ps - shock / horror, whilst we were waiting for a fuel leak to be fixed on the 318, SWMBO was persuaded to take the M3 for a little drive around the private estate roads!!!! And guess what? She almost admitted to enjoying it)

Simon,

Good to hear you have another car.

I have to ask why aren't they in your name? Is it a tax dodge?

To be honest only the M3 is in Anne's name, and that is because it is insured in her name - with me as the main driver.
I was holding off registering the 318 until I knew who was going to insure it, and as that is now me, its MINE!

OK, so I found that the G plate the 318is was on was NOT the original plate that it was registered with back in 1990. It turned out that a personal plate had been on & off it in '95 - '97, and a new plate issued.

So what's the problem?
1/ It wasn't original anymore.
2/ All the window glass is etched with the original registration!!!

Solution?
Convince the DVLA to re-register her with the original plate.
Once I found out that this was "On Hold" at the DVLA, it turned out to be a lot easier than I first imagined.

So today she proudly bears her original registration plate again - hooray!

And the cost? £19.99 for the plates and ... £0 for the DVLA!

Amazing - and it only took a couple of weeks.

Well done DVLA!!
