I have to admit from some angles the 1 series is growing on me.

From the inside it grabbed me the most. I got in it, straight out on the track and was immediately chucking it about like the Z1. It is bl**dy brilliant to drive!!!
Ciao,
Spokey

I've heard from "an informed source" that certain liberties were taken with the opposition at the launch/test days at Rockingham to make the 1 Series 'appear' to perform better!?

Did you happen to notice for instance how much the tyres squealed on the Alfa??

(ps - *** knows why they should, but if BMW decided to make a //M 1 series, what do they call it??)
Cats know your every thought.

But don't care.

AFAIK, it will be the M2 (coupes & ///M being even numbered)

A nicely written review there , pity the car looks so bloody awful in silver   looks fine enough from the front on that cornering picture, but the side profile... oh dear...

just my opinion of course and I don't matter cos i don't have the cash to buy one anyway

I didn't see any Alfas, and I made the tyres on my 1 squeal rather a lot...

No Alfas or any other rivals, just BMW's so not sure where you got your info from.

The invite came as I registered on the web site for general info and it would have in polite to refuse

The style does grow on you, still not sure about the sagging sills, but the rest will grow on you.

Err, don't understand this?

The 3 series = M3
The 5 series = M5
So the 1 series = ???????

I think it could have something to do with the Z1...

and more importantly, the M1...

both disastrous for the company, therefore would you want to name your new wunderkind after a car that you'd rather sweep under ther carpet?

"Both disastrous for the company"....?

I'm quite happy with my Z1 and I'd love to have an M1 to keep it company!

I don't think this has anything to do with how good either of the cars is, more a reflection of how well they sold and how much money BMW lost on them.

No offence taken.

As to what it's like to drive a Z1, I can't really describe it. What I can say is, since I bought it, I've seen more windy byways than ever before, and I'm always finding excuses to go for a drive.

I guess it's the freedom of a motorbike with better handling.
