I have recently acquired an '88 E30 325i Coupe, and it has a few vibrational and steering problems.....The symptoms are - the car wanders a little at speed and the steering (No PAS) is anything but precise. I note that it appears to be slightly harder to steer when approaching full RH lock when opposed to LH. I have had the car statically checked and the mechanic could see nothing wrong - he then took it for a quick test drive and still said it seemed fine.....it is not!

I have driven a similar aged car (110k) and it was much more precise and the steering was far more responsive. I suspect worn suspension bushes and a worn rack, though I would dearly love to know for certain.

The other thing is the vibration felt throughout the car when moving. This occurs throughout the whole rev range though in varying degrees of severity. I have had four new tyres and the wheels balanced, but I thought I noticed some quite severe deformation in one of the wheels.....though could this be a drive shaft problem? I can't tell if the vibration is at the front or rear.

OK chaps - any ideas?
