Hi Is it normal when the oil filler cap is removed for the engine revs to surge up and down? Normally when i remove a filler cap on previous cars the engine speed doesn't change. Also with the cap in place, when i removed a pipe at the back of the rocker cover ( to the inlet manifold) the engine cut out. This was just an investigative move only, no ther reason to remove it. Any ideas. You've probably realised am new to the BMW scene, but picked the car up Very cheap and wouldn't have anything else now. Says something when a 'F' reg BMW with 158000 drives nicer than my previous 'P' Xantia with 60000miles, same engine size.

yes your losing pressure so the engine will surge. ------------- E34 M30 535i SPORT
