I have jigged the settings slightly for certain member groups (see below) so they can upload files with posts. There are three different types of upload & I have listed the allowed file types also:-
1. image upload (into a post) = *.jpg, *.jpeg *.gif and *.png
2. file upload (makes link in post to file) = *.txt, *.zip, *.jpg, *.jpeg *.gif and *.png
3. avatar upload (through your edit profile page) = *.jpg, *.jpeg and *.gif.

The file size limits are as follows:-
#1 = 200KB
#2 = 200KB
#3 = 20KB

Avatar uploading is currently available to all registered members whereas the image and file uploads are only available to Really Senior Members I and Really Senior Members II. This will be held on a trial period but if there is any sign of abuse then it will be removed for good.

With #1 & #2 you should see the following buttons on the post box toolbar Image Upload File Upload
With #3 you should have a link to upload an avatar on your http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/register.asp - profile page .

Disclaimer: I have not included the likes of Microsoft Word Documents in the allowed files mainly due to the possibility of macro virii being carried through them. If members open an uploaded zip file then it is their responsibility to ensure that its contents are safe. The club or anyone associated with it is not liable for any damage caused by a file downloaded from here - you are responsible for your own machine, not us! If you are not sure about the file then don't download it!

Works lovely K, great stuff.

I wish they did this on a photography forum I sometimes go to, it would make sense. Think I'll bring it up and get them to have a butchers over here. Never know, might get a few more members.

what was the message (if any) given or what happened? Kayaks have to be 200KB or less to fit in through the forum doors but basically clicking the Image Upload button should give you the upload pic box. Select the correct file and click OK. Message Box appears asking you to wait. Click Ok on that & then wait.
Once the file is uploaded it should automatically load into the new message box.

'ang on a minute.... just reread, if I'm not completely daft it goes something like this...

the add image javascript openWin'RTE_image_window.asp','insertImg','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=200'">  button is for web based piccies

and the

image upload javascript openWin'upload_images.asp?MSG=RTE&FID=22','images','toolbar=0,location=0,status=0,menubar=0,scrollbars=0,resizable=0,width=400,height=150'">Image Upload button is for PC harddisk based images?

Assuming I'm right (all the time according to my wife) I was doing it correctly and the system is actually conspiring against me and my own inane brand of humour.... god that's clever. I'll get me coat.

btw a sentient forum could put some moddies out of jobbies....

I adjusted your individual forum settings so all should be ok but I checked the uploads folder on the server and it seems you have already uploaded files:- Dereks Pic #1
Dereks Pic #2

What browser are you using? What OS? When you upload a pic it should automatically load itself into the message window. I uploaded this one (1st one I found on my system so no offence!) and it works fine.
K.

ps the one with the canoe is along a lovely stretch where myself & 'er indoors often go for a walk!
