Hello all

I am a new member and new to BMWs. I would appreciate advice on two matters relating to my 99 523i SE tourer.

1. I am a bit dissapointed with the speaker sound, they seem a bit lacking in detail to me. I was going to take a look at the door speakers by removing the panel but not sure how to do it. Any ideas on how to get to the speakers and upgrades?

2. drivers side windscreen washer has recently failed. water squirts out If I remove the pipe going to the jet. So I assume the jet was blocked. Tried pushing a bit of wire down jet but it meets resistance. I am reluctant to puch too hard in case these jets are more complex than they seem,  They have two wires going to them are those heaters? any suggestions?

Bit too new for me this one martin, my manual doesnt cover yours, but the speakers will be easy enough, just go along to your local audio stockist, you will then be able to listen to all they have, as audio is a very personal thing, what sounds good to me may be horrid to you.

My local place has been able to sell me and fit an electric aerial cheaper than I could buy it from halfords

On another occasion they sold and fitted for me, a sony cd player, all done for £30 less than I could buy it from the argos catalogue

If you want a manual for your car, to cover all the things like washer jets etc, I found the haynes to be useless, but the bentley is superb.

Contact David Meakes through the club, he's "the manual man"

re: follow up on my previous post

The faulty jet seemed to be blocked, so I prised it apart. Inside there is a spring and a rubber one way valve. I could not make this work so I removed the valve and refitted the jet without it. It seems to work fine, I'll see how its goes.  A new jet is 19 pounds.
