I'm having a problem with the driver's door on the old bus. When I parked up, I locked the doors as usual, deadlocking with the key from the driver's door. When I came back to the car, I tried to open the doors as usual from the driver's door, but the button will not budge. All the other doors and boot are opening fine, from both driver's and passengers doors, but the driver's door is firmly secured. I can't even pop the button up from inside the car.

To say that there has been much dwearing and gnashing of teeth would be an understatement. Anyne got any tips on what may have happened and what I should do to get the door open?

Thanks.

David

It sounds like you have got a faulty central locking motor. - To open the door insert the key into the lock, lift the handle while holding the handle up and (assuming its a right hand drive car) turn the key towards the front of the car - you will feel some resistance but keep turning until the key will go no further - should be about 120 degrees from where you started. Return the key to the normal position - drop the handle and then try and pop the button up - it should work.  You'll probably have to get a new central locking motor though.

-------------
If you try and then fail...

...then hide all evidence that you tried in the first place.

Sounds very similar to a 'problem' I had ....

Bought a nice 730i, got it home, couldn't unlock the driver's door ... Very annoyed ... Got a mate to try, and found he could open it every time, and I couldn't open it at all!

After much shouting, stamping and sobbing found that if you turn the key quickly to the end of it's travel, the door will not unlock, but if you just move the key up to half way the door unlocks every time ....

Hope this helps if you haven't solved the problem already ....
