Do any of ou guys know what value goods you are allowed to import form the US into Ireland without being taxed? Is the tax charged VAT at 20%?

The only exception is a gift worth less than €38. Anything above that is taxed.I'm not sure of rates but it also depends on who brings it into the country.
If an Post get it it's tax free but if Williams Freight get their hands on it,it will be subject to handling fees and customs taxes.
A quote from Williams over the phone is add 40% onto the value and thats how bad it can be.

It depends on the goods. There are a number of catagories with different rates.
