Nice to see everyone at the Squirrel Inn last night...NOT!

What is the point of having monthly pub meetings if nobody is going to turn up, and if it had been cancelled or postponed we could of least had some notice of this on this forum.  The level of apathy in this region is one of the reasons why few people (if any) from the Hampshire Area of the BMW Drivers' Club have joined the Car Club since the former's demise.

In my 4 years with the BMWCC I have noticed similar levels of disinterest at shows as well, e.g. at Beaulieu 2 years ago there were only 6 cars on display each day, which considering the size of the region is very poor.

In contrast, the Hampshire Area BMW Drivers manage to produce between 8 and 10 at most shows.  We had 9 at Bovington, one of which had come from Brighton and myself from Tadley on the Hampshire/Berkshire border.  This is from a club that supposedly no longer exists.

Despite there having been changes on the committee and a promised subsequent increase in the promotion of area activities, some things just don't appear to be able to change.

At least one Wessex representative will be at Donington, as my car has been selected for the club's "75 Years of BMW" display, but I don't expect I'll see anybody else from the region as I doubt many of you can be ****d to support the event.

My M3 will be on display at donington from the wessex so it will be nice to see yourS there. Also we are planing on spliting up the wessex region for pub meets as I could not make it due to living so far away and geting home from work. I will be at the Fox & Hounds Pub nr Wimborne dorset on the 31st October if you want to come there.

I too notice the lack of support in what should be a member rich in number area.

I have and do regularly support the Coupe section which often meets within the catchment area and gets good support with active meetings. Perhaps James Sohl (Coupe organiser) has found the right blend by arranging meets/drive to/pub food + chat. It is very proactive and attracts not only coupes !!!

I find with work shift pattern and distance to cover that Godalming is a little too far out for me.

I have attended quite a few events this year and managed to get to the Fox and Hounds pub near Wimborne a few times and their meets are good and well supported - the grub in the pub is excellent too !!!

My car (and hopefully myself) will be at Donny on display and hope to meet up with you guys (subject to my work commitments) to have a chat. If me not there , my trusted BMW guru from Etechmotorsport will be there with the car (Justin).

Tomorrow there is a informal meeting at The Plough in Wokingham, we start gathering at 11am, for more details have a look at the topic http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=10890&PN=1 - here .

I didn't know about the Squirrel meeting until it was posted on here the day before. The turnout could be better if a reminder was posted on here a couple of weeks before.

Nick,

I have holiday home down at Hamworthy, know the area well. I often meet up with fellow  car club member Mark (318iS and Wessex Secretary) and others down at the Fox and Hounds at Canford Bottom , last Sunday in every month. Late morning/lunchtime.

Unfortunately I only got this message on Monday morning, but I would not have been able to make it this weekend anyway as I was driving up to beyond Aberdeen and back.

Any idea when the next one might be?

Your problem getting to Surrey is the same as mine getting to Dorset!

See you at Donny.

Not sure when the next one will be, maybe mid November. We don't have a regular schedule. There will be a post on the Forum as few weeks before.
