All,

It was mentioned at the last meet in Wicklow that maybe it would be an idea to do something in and around the Xmas period. Would anybody be interested in going go-karting - say in Kylemore in Dublin, late Nov - early Dec before the Xmas rush!

I'll organise it if the interest is there!

Geoff

me, me, me. I'm in too. What length of track do they use. I went Karting last year in Tynagh, Galway and they had a really decent outdoor track, which was mega fun. I was dripping sweat when I finished the 30 minute run.

pallas Karting in Tynagh is the longest purpose built go-kart track in Europe! Kart city and the others all have both indoor nd outdoor circuits but nowhere near as long. Still good craic.
I did Pallas, Kart City & Glenamaddy. Pallas was the best by far but very out of the way!

Dublin or Meath would suit me, I agree with handicapping Bannon M5 as he really liked been in front on the Wicklow drive and we can't let him lead at everything on the road and track

Given that there the track day in October & there is an end of year meeting planned presumable in November, & with the build up to Christmas, etc. ["you can't go karting as you promised to go shopping with me and my mother..."] what about holding it in early January? It would be a bit of a belated Chrimbo present after recieving all the rubbish presents off family!

Richie that all depends on your driving and how you qualify?? Are partners invited or is it just for the lads and the one or two girls to take to the track.

All,

I rang Kylemore Karting yesterday and the guy told me that there is no problem with booking a date in the run up to Xmas! All we need is a 100 euro deposit (which I will put up) along with a group of over 9, so its looking good. We can try and drum up some more support for this at the track day!

I pressume it will be between the Grand Prix Event 40 Euros and the Championship Event 36 Euros?

How about another pole to decide whether the event is held before or after Xmas! Could someone do this for me, as for some reason I am restricted from creating and voting on polls on this forum (any ideas why?)

All,

Its certainly looking like Kylemore based on the vote, also team events, which we can sort out closer to the date! How does Saturday 4th December sound to everyone? If this agrees, I'll go ahead and pay the 100 euro deposit. Therefore, can everyone PM me (with their names) confirming their participation in the event, as we will be required to give definite numbers.

I voted for Dublin but know for sure that I will be playing a match at some point during the day.  I won't be sure as to what time my match will be until the week in question.
So I can't commit until I know that the times won't clash.  Sorry I can't do any better than that.  Definitely keen otherwise!

I was in Santry a year or two ago. The outdoor track is v good. The heats had about ten or so carts in each, then they let us all go hell for leather at the end i think there was about twenty two or four carts on the track going crazy. Not even really sure who won, but it sure was fun.

The voting system is part of the overall forum membership group privileges. The more posts you have the more privileges you have. it is a standard on most forums. See http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=6249 - Forum Groups for more.

Gerard

PS I only participate in the Forums when I have something to say, so why shoul I be penalised

For example when I am organising an event, I organise the fuel economy run each year. I put in a large number of post for that

So as Ravenelli69 and Topazman are quite vocal as to who can and cannot vote, they will also be quite strong in their presence at next years economy run. So guys will you commit yourselves now to next years economy run.

Regarding the GP or Championship (from kylemore-karting.com):-

Grand Prix    price € 40 per driver
Top of the range exclusive race meetings for groups from 9 -60 drivers, ideal for corporate entertaining.
All drivers get a practice session followed by 4 qualifying heats, (with 4 drivers in each heat) one heat from each grid position.
Following the heats up to 4 quarter finals are run, in the knock out section, for which grid positions are determined by the points scored in the heats.
The top 10 drivers go through to two semi-finals with the first three drivers in each going into the 15 lap Grand Final.

Championship Race   price € 36 per driver
Similar to the Grand Prix in that all of the drivers get a practice session followed by 4 qualifying heats, (with 4 drivers in each heat) one heat from each grid position
Following the heats, Graded Finals are run, grids determined by the points scored in the qualifying heats. The A Final for the top 6 drivers being run over 10 laps, the B Final over 8 laps and all other finals over 6 laps.

Geoff,

I'll be there but it's looking unlikely that my brother will be available. Too busy making money as a DJ, and will probably be sleeping on Saturday morning.
