When was the E34 introduced?

Hi, my bmw 535 shows date of first reg as 28/06/88, I wondered when in '88 the e34 was launched and therefore how close to the beginning of the range my one is?

Obviously I can quote chassis/engine nos if relevant?

your is going to be an early one, mines an 89, even the manual says 89 - 95, but that may just be the states
