Fitting this air filter system to my 318i K reg E36, M40 engin. Will be removing the black box with the standard air filter from the air intake regulator and bolting on the cone shaped filter. Will I need to alter anything on the engine to make it work properly or is it a plug and play item? Has anyone fitted one? What are te power gains like? Also looking to fit an FSE power boost valve, Where is the current fuel regulator in the engin bay? Again is this a plug and play item? Has anyone fitted one and what are the power gain like? Different engine but on my 325i I found the mixture needed some adjustment after installing the K&N 57i ran a bit lean. And with the power boost valve you really want to have the fuel pressure set to the same as the standard pressure regulator at about 1500rpm haver this done with a fuel pressure gauge installed between the rail and the regulator. -------------

Thanks for the advise Paul I wasnt aware of fitting a fuel pressure guage between the rail and the regulator. Will let everyone know what happens when 57I and FSE Booster installed. ------------- Currently instaling a modified KenCam kit into my K reg 318I. Will let you know how it goes. |

Found it made a difference, car felt more responsive but the biggest difference was at higher revs when it supposedly gives a few psi extra fuel pressure over the boggo one. Hasn't made it any worse on fuel as like i mentioned before it pays to have the fuel pressure set to the standard at crusing revs, if its not the mixture will be to rich. The standard regulator just tries to lean the mixture off as you put your foot down in an attempt to improve emissions, FSE one simly allows the fuel pressure to rise quicker thus not staving the injectors of fuel. Don't expect massive gains but it does make a difference. -------------

When you fit such a kit does this affect your insurance? I have in the past added a supercharger plus other mods to an MX5 and this made my insurance reach for the skies... Not sure I want to get into this again, but the little extra bhp and noise factor for the money would be nice :-) Anyone who has one fitted can you shed any light on this... ------------- 318ti m44 sports compact (Dakar Yellow edition) |

Induction kits generally seem to add about 10% to insurance premiums although you can be lucky and not be affected. -------------
