2.0 valvetronic, yes, i got mixed up a bit   at that year, although im led to believe that the earliest 318ci e46s had the old m43 engine, the very same 1.8 4-cyl developing 115bhp as my 1995 318i se had

Couldn't agree more.  Especially as you've got a 6 just now to then go to a four would just be WRONG!  Go for the 3 litre if you've got the bucks.  If not then the 323 would do very nicely indeed.  Having checked this out myself lately, there is very little in it between the 323, 325 and 330 prices once they are a few years old.  So go for as fast as you can reasonablely afford.

That's a nasty habit as cars are a very good way to thow away 1000's of £££ very quickly in depreciation.  Take your time.  It's not like buying a house where it goes up in price every minute unless you act fast.  You wait a week or two even and they will be dropping the price.  Especially on thirsty motors these days as people are too scared to buy a decent sized engine so they tend to sit on forcourts for longer.

My brother haggled money of his V8 Range Rover no problems as the guy couldn't shift it.  He was even thinking about doing an LPG conversion to assist it's sale!!

That'll be the reason he offered you so much for your bm in exchange for the jeep.

only thing I can think then is it must be the budget in your search criteria as there are a lot.  I just found 5 pages of them in the approved used bmw search page.

that's why I'm waiting for a year I need to save my pennies first.

Well I forked out just over 20k for mine, 3 months ago from a dealer.

I payed over the odds for it, but it was what I wanted and I had been looking for months (and I mean months).

Its a 51 plate and had 26k on the clock when I bought it (1 owner).

Were gonna suffer big price drops on these in the coming months, so think seriously before you go investing big money in one, your gonna have to be comitted to owning for at least 3yrs to justify cost of ownership, depreceation, etc.

There is a 51 plate vert (same spec as mine) at a garage near me for £18,995 .. not sure of the mileage, as I didnt have time to stop.

He also has a Black M3 vert on a Y plate - which looked seriously porntastic (but he wasnt showing the price of that)

If you could wait til spring, you will have saved a fair wad of cash I reckon (where as I will have lost an even fairer wad)

Keep us informed.

sorry ...bad english..should have said Trader...not dealer...

Looked at an Estoril Blue Clubsport at a dealer a few days beforeheand, was lovely, but was £25K on a 52 plate.

Dealer went on about how it was such a lovely example, blah blah blah, then told me it had four previous owners. Dunno how I kept my face straight.

And for ur 25k, you didnt even get an armrest.
