Just back from a long hack round Bricket Wood, Herts. Nothing out of the ordinary.... well, nothing other than the canoodling couple that Rory and I stumbled across having a "quickie" in the back of a brand new Jag.

Steamy windows!!!

They were going like rabbits!

I actually think that Rory and I showing up like that must've killed any passion that was going on in that quiet little back lane.

And besides, Rory's got a bigger one than that fella could ever hope to have....

Oh...wait... have we overstepped the mark on this thread already?!?

Hmmmmm....I wonder how the old car is doing....we had a few false starts due to a dead battery when she left this aftenoon but she soon picked up and apparently ran perfectly after a couple of miles.  Not bad seeing as she been sat in same place since June.  She will be pampered now, fully restored and serviced over the winter to reappear in the spring all ready for action.

Was good to see the old girl under her own power, very satisfying..and her new owner is same age as she is too, so they can grow old together

Never mind that, maybe sell a few pics to the Scum, the Mirror, the Excess, the Wail.... who knows where it might lead....

He has insurance all organised, his other cars are a Toyota GT Twin Turbo Aerotop Supra and an MR2 T-Top, there won't be any problems in that department.  And although the car has metric wheels and new Avon's, he will be keeping her totally standard so she will be shod with the same tyres all the time.  She will be nice to see once sorted out.  I am going to give him the link to this site so once he has got her home and had a few days to arrange everything, he will no doubt come on the site to ask advice etc.  He did say though that she was far too good to have been scrapped.  I gave her away to him as I know of him from my Supra owning days and I knew he would care for her properly.

Who complained on the appreciation of moddies thread , the next one (after this is shut down)  should be sub-headed: "If your easily offended or dont have a sense of humour ..then please go away now" that way there can be no excuses, or moaning about the content.

Saying that tho, I think Goldryder must have well got that mini-moto blokes nose up, posting a pic of him. Id be gutted If I had got snapped wearing those dodgy loafers... Red diesel always was and always will be cheap tho.

I cannot comment on the pic Praktisk..even if I do tend to agree with you.....Its in the gallery section now but was on a public thread on the other site.  It was taken by another member of that site and posted accordingly amongst a few others.

It is quite a fun pic though, all the same, and is no way derogatory either IMHO.

I am not entirely certain about the reason for the thread closure but I doubt it had anything to do with the pic.

Hopefully this thread will remain open for considerably longer.

We can but try

Recharged my battery in the old girl yesterday (Sunday). Put battery in and she started first time, after being stood for ages.

Hopefully she will be going to a better home to be looked after, and restored into her former glory.

Will miss her, but don't have time or funds to tend to her needs.

(also will be able to put clothes airer back up as well. )

Oh, and on the subject of cucmber sandwiches, can't stand cucumber,  it got me into a lot of trouble when I was living with my mum, her byfriend liked doing bowls of fruity punch for the frequent parties. On one he put a load of cucmber in, so I put 3 litres of Glenfiddich in to kill the taste.

Livened the party up quite a bit but my mum wasn't too pleased - never figured out why!

Sad.....very, very sad......

Went for a wander this afternoon and there coming towards me was a black mica M3 on private plates, looked late 80's ish, anyway as the car got closer something odd could be seen....

DAYGLO GREEN NEONS!!!!!!!!

Dayglo green neons underneath the front, sides and rear....fluorescent green washerjet lights......fluorescent green light on the radio aerial.....fluffy dice hanging off the rearview mirror.....and the driver wearing a back to front baseball cap.

The car had what looked suspiciously like a baked bean can attached on the rear end of the exhaust and limo-black tints on all windows plus a 'motorsport' sunstrip that came down about two thirds of the screen in dot matrix, again in fluorescent green.

mmmmm..sorry but that has to be the most ridiculous thing to do to any car, let alone an M3.

Sacriledge me thinks....

erm..Starsky had the red and white Torino..Hutch had the battered Ford Marquis with the dented roof..that he landed on...and Huggy had a Cadillac....I think..but then its been a very very very very very long time since I watched the series on telly...

Must admit I did like to see Paul Michael Glaser recently on ch4's 'Third Watch'.  That man has been through so much away from the cameras over the years, good to see him on mainstream work again.

Incidently you can buy the Starsky Torino for a mere £14995 from a specialist importer.  All cars are identical to that used on the series and the recent film remake.

A site for sore eyes...from crying at the sight of whats there...www.carsinbarns.com

Classic American muscle, sat in driveways and fields and gardens just rotting away quietly, most with stories as to how they got where they are and why.  Some of it is very sad, such as the white Ford Mustang GT500, left in the rear garden after the owner died, his dad can't bear to part with the car...

In Northamptonshire, Burton Latimer across the road from the Weetabix factory there is a long narrow lane.  At the end of it is a scrapyard, about the size of 4 footy fields.  In there are just American cars...half the area has breakers, the other half has drivable repairables.  I once took a huge Pontiac Safari 400 Stationwagon for a drive from there...23ft long, apple green with the fake wood paneling..and a very unusual tailgate...it was electrically operated, the top half was all glass and tucked away into the roof and the lower metal half went under the floor when opened...thought about painting eyes on the glass and a dragon type mouth on the lower section and driving along opening and closing it, like some mad crazed creature...  Sadly I didn't buy the car, instead I bought the Pontiac 3.8 V6 Sunbird, nice little ex drug runner's car...you had to enter the car through the tailgate using a screwdriver as the doorlocks had been mucked up...had a few dodgy looks in carparks when 'breaking into' my own car...

I nearly bought a bright orange mustang before I got the Royales, was a late model though, aboutr x reg, 3.3 engine but not that quick.

Had a drool over the Shelby mustangs at NEC classics show, Wendy kept losing me and camera! Big display, original right up to latest! Prefer the older ones though. Not sure who's signed in, this Iis Ian(rubberknees) if wendy didn't sign out,lol

There was a bright orange Mussy over here on Tuesday morning, sounded gorgeous, paintwork was flat though, which was a shame.

Quite like Yanktanks, the older 60's, 70's and early 80's models mainly.  The engines are totally bombproof and not an ECU in sight, dead easy to maintain and modify too.

Thats better, I'm me this time! Have to change my password, fogot it a couple of weeks back, now it's something like r2d2whome6789, had to write it down, no way I can remember it,lol.

I like yank tanks from same eras, my own fleet late 70's early 80's as can't cope with lever action dampers, kingpin greasing etc.

Had a race through Lewisham in Lodon in 70's, my Honda 750-4 against a TransAm, he won as I though 100mph+ even at 6am through a biult up area was suicidal!

Mine was an old K series, K-2 I think, put a four into 2 reverse cone mega system on it and altered jetting. Went quite well. Later had a 400-4, great fun, could get both feet on floor at same time on that!

Friend had, has, Norton Commando, rebuilt a few years back , had pistons and rings made to put compression back to "as new", even frightened him when he got it back. Swears he's going to get Wendy pillion on it one day, not sure Devon's ready for the screams

Ok, pics come out now, top one on my pit on Ascension Island in portacabin in 1980's, lower one MANY years ago at my parents caravan in Selsey on south coast.

No, I haven't got radiation burns in top one, it was over 100 all day every day for 6 month detachment, working dress was shorts and flipflops!

Thank you Wendy, sure Emma can find some of you for the site!

Tried in catalogue, seller says they are either 14 or 15 inch, right ones for one set either way, lol, ggot 4 of them, last seen at £23

Thinking about time that top pic taken, had permanent effect on my stomach, lol. Got to LIKE compo rations, especially the suasages and oatmeal biscuits. Mind you, at time all there was to do was work, work out in contractors aircon gym, or drink and be merry. Tried doing some cross country style running but heat and gradients almost killed me.

Guess which solution I chose

Anyway, when I went to ECP, they only had one size set in, guess what, yep wrong ones..

Good luck, they will look nice when fitted, I would have loved some when I had her.

Oh I was lurking around somewhere, just not on here. Hasn't been unusual for me to be up as our lass is getting up for work (don't need to fight for the covers.. )

it was nearly 6 the other morning before I turned in, nust be the coffee, 5 pints does tend to make you to the loo quite a lot tho' ...

Early night for me tonight, 2am maybe

Lol, old age and medication makes me go to the loo a lot, no coffee required. 5 pints! Must have a hell of a size mug, mine only holds a pint!

Lol, I'd heard that one, I can sleepwalk to toilet and back. Do you make the coffee in a job lot in the kettle then? Got a filter coffee maker but that only holds about 6 cups (or 2-3 of my mugs)

Could be easier to boil it up in kettle! Even better if you have one of those small urn things.... with an optic next to it.....lol
