Anyone know how much I should pay for an 83k miles E30 325i engine.

Been offered one for £430 delivered.

Cheers!

Alex

has it been reconditioned or is it straight from a scrapped car?
When was the timing belt last changed?

Delivered doesn't sound too bad, I'm assuming it's from a dismantlers, you could probably get it cheaper private..

I would want to see it running before buying an engine though..

I paid £150 delivered for a 325i engine with 120k on the clock, but i did get it off a friend of a friend.

If its from a scrappy?? it still sound alot, but i guess if the mileage is warranted? its not too bad.

With the problems that can happen with the 6 cylinder heads, you've got to expect to pay a bit. Mind you, an M40 4 cylinder is pricy due to the problems with the valve train.

Quality engineering costs, especially when it goes wrong!

Tis from a fairly well known breakers and it does come with a months warranty too. I'd change the cam-belt as a matter of course and most likely treat it to a new set of shells too, just to try and make sure it doesn't go the way of the old one.
