 Greetings fellow 8ers.

I have owned my 840Ci for 6 months,( 1996 4.4i Tiptronic ) and am chuffed to death with it. I do have a niggling cold start problem though, and would appreciate a bit of advice.

From cold I have to crank it over for around 15 seconds with throttle at 50% or thereabouts for it to start, and when it does it's as if there's not enough fuel coming through for it momentarily. On take off,it is hesitant, and holds back as if once again there's not enough fuel. When hot it's on the button. When warm,it's a semi pig to start.  I've had the iac valve out and cleaned it.  It seemed the gate was a bit too free, but not to the extent of it being u/s. Also a bit of kickdown lag when in auto mode. All suggestions gratefully received.

hi, had similiar prob while back, turned out to be fuel pump, if you tap the fuel tank underneath the car on the drivers side before you start it to give the brushes a bit of a loosen, does it start any easier?  thats why i did till i got it to the workshop.  not saying thats what it is but worth a shot.

Hi Aussie 840, and thanks for reply. Tried out what you suggested, but no luck. I think it may be a sensor problem,or even cold start injector....if it has one. I'm pretty sure the problem stems from incorrect amount of fuel being supplied when cold. When warm it behaves faultlessly.
