I had this landfill piece of **** renovated by a local mechanic, I have just started cleaning & detailing it. the weird grey seats are just temporary while I sort out some proper ones.

That's not landfill look's great.Wheel's are off a e38 7? Nice to see these old motor's still being driven and enjoyed by real enthusiasts not the usual rubbish you see! These are a rare beast in that condition. What seat's are you going to replace those with ? tasty sport seats maybe?

thanks Jamie . its good to hear someone not slagging off E23's for a change.

the pics are very flattering - VJ has lots of rusty bits for me to attend to.

rims are indeed E38 16" running 225/55 NCT. rims worth way more than the car

E28/E23 seats are the same, so some tasty M535i seats would look real cool, and would again be worth more than the car.

Just goes to show for the second time this week that the best cars are found in scrapyards! That's a lovely E23, I've always had a soft spot for these cars after seeing a good one put into a destruction derby before I could do anything to save it (well I had just turned 17!). Apparently the guy had put it in for it's MoT and it failed on a few things, but the work was going to come to several hundred pounds so he decided to stock it. Haven't been to a destruction derby since. Gutted. The car looked lovely from where I was, told later it was a 735i.

Your car looks lovely, get the rust sorted then get out and enjoy her!

What, no I-Drive?

-------------

Posted By: Philip
Date Posted: 13-February-2005 at 17:26

Instead of I-Drive there is a small ball of compacted sawdust between the driver's ears, BMW named it "I Think, therefore I drive a BMW"

VJ thanks you for the positive comments - old E23's have feelings too guys.

getting this sorry car up to a genuine MOT was an amazing journey, so many things needing fixing. I will do a report for AG, but will definitely not spell out the £££££ spent. enough to buy a decent car

VJ came to me with plenty of MOT - shows what a worthless piece of **** an MOT cert is. Use your noddle when viewing cars for sale guys.

OK guys, its great to see you posting here, and I'm sure your getting used to the BMWCC forum, so lets pull the language up to the standard we tend to insist on.

We can also do without all the silly arguments over what is and what isn't a good car, if you like it, thens thats fine.

Best Wishes

Lose the E38 wheels, they look wrong, wrong,
wrong. Get a set of 15 inch BBS x spokes on there.

I agree Nigel, come on guys, regardless of views, keep it tidy!

I have to agree with the wheel comment though Phil, don't get me wrong, they look fine, but a set of period crosspokes, could look more than fine?

Nigel,

thanks for deleting my expletives.

thanks for banning silly arguments too. Old nutters who like E23's and E12's etc are harmless. Personally I think people who take out huge car finance at massive interest rates to buy a new car that depreciates like a falling rock are nutters, but again each to his own.

Andy/Andyboy,

I do have an E23 on 15" x-spokes and she looks mighty fine. I will post up some pics tonight.

I love the 16" rims AND the 15". Variety is the spice...........

Yeah, I can vouch for that. My freshly MOTed 635 came with a 500+ quid bit of structural welding.

E23 fleet = 2 off 735i SE and 1 732i SE. sad I know.

pics were taken at dusk yesterday, after I washed the car in lashing rain in the near dark. I have truly lost it.

mileage on VJ - who knows with these old Land(fill) Girls. the mileometer said 155k but she now has a 135k cluster in there, hee hee. genuine miles could be astronomical.

thanks for the nice comments.

I look fwd to seeing your beastie when she's back together.

Did you follow up with the MOT Inspectorate &/or the seller?

Dodgy MOT stations can be reported. In theory MOT stations are policed very strictly. Passing a rotten car is defeats the purpose of the MOT test surely. Is the 635 in question still with you?

Be warned guys, MOT's on cars can be faked as Rob details above. Do your own MOT checks when you view a car F/S, even a cheapie, to avoid nasty shocks later on
