I paid about £38 for my new one at Halfords! Is it worth putting a higher ampage battery on these cars, considering they always seem to be their limit considering the amount of stuff on them?

Always worth while having some spare capacity in my view. especially with automatics.

ECP & GSF both sell batts at really good prices, as do other motor factors.

Rob - do you visit the ECP branch in Rayleigh?

I use the GSF Chelmsford branch - obviously they don't keep E23 bits on the shelf but their main warehouse in London sends the rare bits out to the branches in a day or two.

for an E23 a minimum 66Ah batt is required - the battery tray is not that big so you won't get a massive E32 80Ah monster to fit. but knowing Rob he will find a way!
