Hiya guys,

Im posting on behalf of my father whos just bought a mint 1987 E30 316 BMW, however it has a slight carb problem!

Ocassionally when your driving along the revs will rise to 3.5k - 4k and stick, no matter what you do with the accelerator, and only by turning the engine off and on again will cure it.

After having it checked out by a garage they said the carb was mullered and a Weber carb was required, just wanted to know if the weber carb is the only one that can be used, and if it is, anyone know where the cheapest place to get one is??

I dont know if this is a common problem or not but the bloke at the garage diagnosed it without even looking at the car as he's had them in before

Anyway thanks for an help its much appreciated

Pete

All I can say is that I couldn't recommend Webber highly enough. Excellent long standing pedigree. They are probably the only guys that would do a replacement for your duff carb as well. May be worth the expense?
