Its a 200 mile round trip to visit my folks. A good mix of highway and country road driving. I am very pleased to report that VJ ran superbly. I was worried that the car might never be a good runner after it was so badly abused/neglected by previous owners. A few driving niggles for advice please fellas:

#1 slight steering wheel shimmy at around 50 to 60 mph.

#2 slight engine stumble when pulling away from rest.

#3 throttle pedal VERY stiff. may relate to #2 above? I think the stiffness is between the gas pedal and the large bracket in the engine bay, the one on the bulkhead, not the throttle body mounting. its really a pain holding the gas pedal down AND the cruise is bust too. I checked my other E23 when I got home and its gas pedal action is light and sweet - perfect.

#4 ABS light comes on sometimes - may need sensors cleaning again or new sensors I guess.

#5 Turn signal stalk is worn and its action is a bit sloppy and the OBC remote scroller seems to need a few prods to get the display scrolling.

#6 I found the car rolled into corners more than I was expecting. I wonder if the front shocks are past their best. How do you assess the front shocks?

hi philip tyres need balancing. abs sensors need cleaning. you also need a new throtle cable or if you can take the old one off complete pour some oil down it to free it up. as for the front shocks, replace the front inserts. if you needed a new abs sensor it would be permantly on.. also the inserts you have on now are they leaking oil, as they were originaly oil filled.

Philip, do you have a turn signal stalk? If not I may be able to help you out with one. I had slight engine stumble when I first started using the EX. I put some fuel system/injector cleaner in and it cleared up after a while. Probably where it's been standing.

If you've got it, a lorry brought it.

Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated.

Tetley, I do not have a spare late spec indicator stalk with the OBC remote control built in. if you have one or know of one please let me know.

Thanks AG,

Its great to hear that! I was cursing myself for not advising Patrick to keep the stalks.
