Hi there, writing this on behalf of my girlfriends dad, he has a 520 which is very difficult to start from cold, gets to the point where the battery is almost flat, we have changed the spark plugs and distributor cap but still the same problem, once the car is started it runs like a dream, starts fine for the rest of the day then, problems only occurs in the mornings when its been sitting in the garage overnight, all your help much appreciated

                         Many thanks Paul

you sure the battery is ok, how about the ingition coil and rotor arm.

have the fuel pressure checked! It could be the beginning of bore wear!! does it smoke when you get it started in the morning. if it is bore wear it will need delicate set up from a expert auto electrician so it starts up without stress.

Worth checking the battery charge & spec - my 535 used to be a bugger in the mornings and would take a good 10secs of cranking before it would splutter into life but once started would run fine all day.

Checked the spec of the battery and it was rated at half the cold cranking amps of what it should be (suspect the used car dealer bunged a cheaper one in there).

Put the correct spec battery in and not had a prob since.

PS Just to make sure it has as much charge as poss I use a solar incar charger to maintain the batt while it's parked up.
