A friend of mine has a BMW 740, 1995.

It's an automatic and has recently developed quite a serious leak between the engine and gearbox. Any ideas of the problem or cost involved? Anyone know of a good independent BMW specialist in Macclesfield / South Manchester who could sort this.

hi, looks like the engine seal between the gearbox and engine has gone. gear box would have to come out and the seal replaced. or more likely the gearbox seal has gone. if its the gearbox seal the oil will be a reddish colour. i would hate to give you a price, but your looking at least a days labour, a new seal would only be a few pounds.. any garage would or should be able to sort this problem.
