Genuine E46 M3 rears won't fit an E36.  You'll need four fronts, or a set of replicas - there's load of replicas on ebay, have a look.

I've recently seen a set of genuine BBS LMs for sale - IMO the best wheels everhttp://www.bmwcarshowroom.com/bs/ad_photo.asp?id=12370&c=1 - CLICKY .

I go with quality every time, you get what you pay for and personally i'd stay away from replicas. I had a set of Rondell wizards(Breyton copies) on my old compact, when i sold the car three of the wheels were buckled!

I am also hoping to treat my motor to some tasty upgrades before the summer. I am looking at fitting "18's, but i will be going for a motorsport vibe and some proper racing rims, brake upgrade etc.

It all comes down to personal preference and budget i suppose, proper forged split rims will last longer than cheap tat and you'll probably take better care when driving...........ah you get the idea i'm sure

These are what i'm considering, ok they're Japanese so sue me!

Not that I have an E36 or any intention of changing the wheels on my E30, but, when I was considering an E36 M3 the first thing I was going to do was put a set of original Alpinas on it. They are by far the most flattering wheel for the car shape. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40262&item=7961559525&rd=1 - On ebay.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but........ I've seen numerous E36 M3s with 18s on and to me they just don't look like M3s anymore, more like modded 3series in general.

I agree, i thought i would be happy enough to own an M3 but the bug has taken hold. I'm hoping to upgrade my suspension, brakes and wheels in the coming months. I know i'll probably become an outcast by the purists but its more motorsport/performance orientated upgrades i'm interested in, thats why i like those work wheels in gunmetal colour, nice and subtle against the black paintwork

I have heard that 18s can fudge the ride up....advice from my indy techie was...'if you're happy with 17s then stick with them'.

Got a funky plan for my wheels though.

Torch, that coupe looks awsome in that colour,as for purists they dont bother me,but i dont want to spoil a great car,i also have the motorsport wheels on my evo, thought about some 17" deep dish wheels ,think bbs lm would look lush
