how do you reset the oil service timmer on the 1990 530i.

Either get an easy to use reset tool from Euro Car Parts or (about £15)...

I generally use a fused (7.5A) wire and connect connectors 7 & 19 (see the diagram on the above link making sure you get the right ones) and turn the ignition to the ON position (don't seitch ignition on!!!) for 3 or 4 seconds for an Oil inspection or another 6 or 7 for an Inspection reset

are you sure that is the right pin, 7 I tried grounding it and turning on the key and it did not work.

what did you ground it to (was the metal earth painted?)?
were your service lights working up until recently?

i grounded it to a good ground, i checked it with aa multi meter. The service indicator works fine it was in the green then slowly rose up to red

not sure what it is then - anyone else?
I know you can get the reset tools from Euro Car Parts or German & Swedish for about £15 so this may just make life easier for you.
