I recon they will be looking for modded cars, not just any old ones

the plots are usually really big, im deffo up for this one , the camping last year was awesome but i stayed in the hilton hotel which is just 1 mile down the road from the show ground

If so what was the set up as far as dropping cars off?

yeah the mondy was on show and attracted a fair bit of attention as the car was on a corner section

dropping cars off was str8 forward u que up tell the guys that your part of the club etc then u get let thru to the next set of gates and get your weekend passes etc and pass to show on the dashboard etc

if its a club thing then you'll need to collect cars/number plate info from people so they can send out a pack to u, which will contain the pass for the car,

the show ground is massive and usual pitches are for around 12+ cars

ive got vid footage from the last one and it was a very entertaining day with showy type rides, demonstrations from russ swift the guy that does all that funky two wheel stuff with minis etc, simultaion rides in the big simulator and even passenger rides in exotic cars round the race track

all in all its a weekend not to be missed imho

oh and at night we all headed into town as the clubs and pubs are great fun in edinburgh  altho seeing as its only a one day event this year that might not be an option

I've offered M 8LUR up for the stand and leave it to organisers as to whether she's included.. (she was in the SS-R paddock last year). If she's indoors then it's a good way to keep her clean and give her the proper wrx. Only if BMW stand is indoors tho. Not doing outdoor stands any more.

mell haven't been in aberdeen with the car maybe a previous owner had it up there, think the rear roof tip spoiler is from another car and made to fit it sticks out a bit more than than the ac spoiler though, car also has a full red and black leather interior and some chrome goodies and indiglo dials and changed the wheel to a nice red and chrome sports thingy, alpine headunit, rainbow 6in components in front doors,2x12in soundstream subs in custom enclosures and 2x alpine amps flushed into the floor all boxed and covered in a kinda grey carpet lol just a few things done

I have decided i am not orginizing this anymore due the lack of sence i get out of them,so someone else will have to do the contacting with them and the fact i have to much on at moment outside club (Yeh i do have a life sometimes)

If someone emails them and say i have already been in contact about a club stand for 10-15 cars and take it from there

Good idea Allan.. let us know.. we really want space for 20 cars minimum so we have plenty of space between cars. I've also emailed them but they need to get themselves sorted.. They weren't much better when I tried to book us into the Aberdeen show last year..

A strathy cruise boy then...?

Let us know what they say.

Also been speaking with Michael from Autorader - tried to push for an indoor spot but no-go so far.. good work Allan on calling upon your underworld contacts..

I think unless we get permission from James or Tommy then this event will be non-BMWCCGB.. so no club badges etc. Hopefully committee will approve by then..

IF it's sunny - SS-R did a BBQ last time and was a big hit.. [idea]

yip think so alan with a bit of luck lol..

quick update on this, spoke to michael at f&m today and he says that he will give a maximum of twelve spaces for cars,he also told me that he needs registration numbers in order to give out passes for show ect, when you arrive on the day of the show,at the entry gate each driver has to pay £5 and any additional passengers will pay £10 normal entry fee, when the driver pays his £5 he will recieve a goody bag containing various things including autoglym car polish.

so thats about as much as i know just now, hope this helps

Wait a mo - we have to pay to display at their show.. hmm.. what's the show without stands one wonders.. this is a new one. free entrance for exhibitors at FCFO last year. We also got the goody bag last year but it didn't cost a fiver and you certainly don't get a fiver's worth neither. Is this the Edinburgh parking mentality slipping in through the gates one wonders.. perhaps blue meanies will be in attendance...

I'm going to wait to hear from F&M as to whether they'll consider 8LUR for a 'top 50' spot... I reckon it's all filled and they're usually biased towards Jap or anything that runs at Strathy Cruise but there you go..

all other cars on show have to pay the same money as we do,we dont want the old"think cause they drive bmw's" thing starting,i for one dont think a fiver is out of anyones reach, after all they do have overheads to pay.

fcfo last year had loads of money thrown at it by fast car, live promotions and a big variety of sponsers,f&m are doing this themselves and will be lucky if they break even as ingleston showground is very expensive to hire, plus loads of people have to be paid ie:stewards, health&safety, ambulance crew as they have to be onsite all day.

also dont see any prob with putting forward for a top 50 spot, they are not also biased as there will be jap stands there too and if you look at what there giving away thats a jap car is it not, they have featured loads of different cars from all walks of life and please remember this is a modified car show, whether it be body, performance or i.c.e installs anything goes so yes even 1ltr saxos and corsas if there good enough, cheers    davie

What do you mean by this?

If we are having a BMW Car Club Scottish Region club stand then that means Scottish Region, not just Glasgow or Surrounding areas

Right folks, sorry I've not been involved in this thread sooner, I've just had it brought to my attention.

Pete can you pls PM me the relevant details for this event and also let me know your reasons for stepping back from taking this forward with the organisers.

Guys, if you can pls bear with me I will try and resolve this and get back to you with what the region plans to do with regard to this event and how it is to be run.

Thanks.

Why are people grudging a fiver to get and also what is the problem with the original planns of the outdoor stand. Please dont let the plan's for this show fall apart as it was a cracker last year and a good chance to spread the word.

Cheers, Cliff.

so who are the 12 cars?would it not be possible to push for another stand as think its a bit unfair for others that want to be there,no offence intended

should this also not be only modded beemers for this show after all it aint a normal car show and is mostly for modded cars in the bodywork, ice and performance category, people like myself and others dont normally go to normal car shows for fear of being heckled by the way we choose to modify our cars,so just saying this is an ideal opertunity to show them off

Posted By: mell
Date Posted: 11-May-2005 at 02:36
it is more of a modded car show i agree,im not sure how many modded cars come on this site tho, think most keep there car standard, mine is schnitzer modded and getting new toys all the time bu tim not sure if my car is right for this kind of show.maybe if we got more details on what we need for the show we can sort it,im still up for it so you can keep my name down

I'd say focus has to be on modified cars, it is the focus of the show.

I'd say as long as the car is modified to a fair degree over the std: i.e. wheels, bodywork etc etc. Showing off OEM cars to the modded crowd wont attract much interest.

Yeah. I agree showing off standard cars wont be up to much, they probably would have seen loads on the motorway to the show  (but not as clean). Mine is schnitzer modded also .  Just hope the showground is in an ok state, or it will eat my front valance for breakfast

agree with m blur we dont want to look like a hendry bros showroom lol, know from experience that lots of bm drivers think you shouldnt touch the car, have had some real strange looks and abuse from people who dont like what i done to my car,end of the day its my choice some people like to be just that little bit different

The reverse is true at sth like F&M.. you need a modded car to stand out.. we have quite a few on this forum who would make up a good stand... othe rmbrs can then come along to the event and give support.

Good thing about only have 12 cars is that we can focus on them to get them looking top notch.

But is this to be an official BMWCCGB stand or simply sth like BMW Scottish-modders...

In saying that the odd std M car like Wendy's EVOSport would still look good in there..

I guess we make up a list.. if there are more than 12 cars then we vote for our favs.

Yeah, bring a couple of M's... still look great unmodified, And it gives me a chance to drool over them.

So let's build a list and then see who can a) come and b)wants to come. If we have more than 12 (unlikley) then we vote.

Hopefully other mbrs will come to have a gander too.

We also need to firm up our slot with F&M this week and then organise polish, car shampoo, chamois leathers etc.

If we had a lap top then we could show film footage collected so far - Stephen - what do you think?

pete, out of 7 cars on page 1 list, are these cars modified in as,ice systems, non factory bodykits, fancy paintjobs? as if there and no offence intented by this, kinda standard looking beemers, then dont you think the stand will look boring?it is a modified car show and going by most users on here, most kinda keep there beemers very supple, only a few of us are into the lexus light, bodykitted, big spoilered cars
