Posted here for no other reason than "why not"!

Guess what number 18 is......

1. Start at Edinburgh Airport.

2. Catch flight from Edinburgh to London Heathrow Airport.

3. Catch flight from London Heathrow to Dallas Fort Worth Airport.

4. Hire car at Dallas Fort Worth Airport.

5. Start going toward the "Airport Exit" on "International Parkway
South" - follow for 0.2 miles.

6. Bear left onto the highway toward "Terminal East Parking" - follow
for 0.3 miles

7. Bear left onto "International Parkway North" toward "North Airport
Exit" - follow for 2.9 miles

8. Take the "Highway 114 west" exit toward "Fort Worth" - follow for
29.2 miles

9. Then continue on "US 287 north" - follow for 91.1 miles

10."US 287 north" becomes "Interstate-44 east" - follow for 0.7 miles

11. Take left fork onto "US-287 north" toward "Vernon" - follow for
104.0 miles

12."US 287 north" becomes "Avenue F (US-287)" - follow for 2.8 miles

13. Continue to follow "US 287 north" - follow for 104.9 miles

14. Take left ramp onto "Interstate 40 west" toward "Dumas" - follow for
7.8 miles

15. Take "Exit 70" onto "US 60 east" toward "Dumas" - follow for 0.5
miles

16. Take the "Buchanan Street" exit toward "Dumas/Pampa" - follow for
1.7 miles

17. Turn right onto "Old Route 66 (Interstate 40)" - follow for 0.1
miles

18. THAT'S the way to Amarillo. Now would you just shut up?

Lol, had Rhys's one from another source in email this morning, maybe we should start a thread giving directions.

I was at school when Gene Pitney charted with 24 hours from Tulsa, popular as our school was at Tulse Hill in London and most of us wanted to be 24 hours away- heading in the opposite direction.

LMAO

Been peeking at my screen Ian? - I was going to mention "24 hours from Tulsa" earlier, but it must be one of the few songs worse than "Show me the way to Armadillo" so I opted for "San José" instead

Talking of other forums, searching for info on E28 528's, roadtests etc, turned up loads of bmw/528 stuff including another forum.

Was surprised to see someone had posted how he(?) wouldn't buy new again as he was so pleased with his dealer's 2nd owner 528 touring, instead of congratulations, 6 out of next 7 posts slagged him and car off. What pleasure do they get out of doing that?

Doesn't ring any bells but those lyrics look pretty bad and I'm strangely reminded of "we got ourselves a convoy" and those Smokie and the Bandit films *shudder*

I really need to put my therapist on speed-dial

Lol, my fave bit from Convoy was the black female driver "widow woman" overturning her truck, kicking it and saying "god d*** white truck, new I should have bought a black one"  Hmmm, should have cast Ally in the film!

I tried to post an assurance that nothing untoward would occur and I got a message saying I had no access to it, which only happens when its moved to moddygyrators section and deleted from our section.

Just on this subject...
MSN used to have a bug in their online mapping system (now fixed) which if you went to http://maps.msn.com/
click on "Directions"
Start from country: Norway; City: Haugesund
End in country: Norway; City: Trondheim
Select shortest route
Click on "Get Directions"
you got this:-

Actually thats similar to my Routefinder prog I had before I got the AA one, it was obsessed with sending you on the motorway and would send you miles out of your way to get you on one for a junction or two.......

I get the scenic route if our lass is navigating..
"At the next junction we are coming to just past the so an so blah blah.."
erm.. we are AT the junction.. what now, which lane.. can't you just say left, right or straight on?
"At the next junction you will be wanting to turn.. left".. she says while pointing right.. (or vice versa)

Oh well

That is exactly why I read the map before I go and memorise the route! Less hassle in the long run, and you only have yourself to blame when you get lost. I always seem to get to where I was going, eventually. May not take the original route but I'll take a selection of roads that point the right way and spit me out at or near the desired location. I hate those in car navigational things, won't have one if I can at all avoid it.

Oh well

can't comment much or Wendy will 'give me a slap' lol, but I usually check the route out and write down the roads I want by number with 'TL or TR' notations for directions, map on back seat and my piece of paper stuck to dash, I usually get there ( yes Wendy I know I missed the M6 Coventry and went on A45 by mistake)

I prefer to go the scenic route alot of the time, unless the journey was 'business' then it was the 'get there the sooner the better' route.

When I was involved with the coaches I always printed out a route for the drivers, they quite appreciated it though not cos of the directions given but the time the journey took to do. They would then add on an hour or so for hold-ups and from that they worked out their break stops, seeing as they can't drive more than four and a half hours in one go and passengers don't like travelling more than 90 mins at a time.
