Seems there is a bit of common sense at the Benefits Agency afterall. I take back all the unpleasant thoughts I have for them.

Today in the post I got confirmation that I did not get the money from 1998 thru 2002..which I already knew but they had to investigate anyway.

Had a reef of forms to sign and return, all done and dusted and posted back to them. Will have a cheque for the entire ammount plus compensation by the end of next week.

So I have decided that all the years bills will be paid in one go, including the rent for the next year, and I shall treat myself to a few goodies for the flat too and go on a nice relaxing holiday, possibly a cruise.

That has made my day PERFECT!!

My only regret is not being able to buy a decent car at last with whats coming. Sods law I guess, I get enough to buy a really decent car (and there is one not far from me too, a 1974 reg Corvette Stingray, something I have always wanted) but I am no longer allowed to drive on medical grounds.

Oh well, guess I can't have everything my own way.

Nice one. Glad you got a result on this one. By the sounds of it a very good result!

The benefits people normally do get it right in the end, it just takes a bit of time Big Smile

Well this is down to the hard work and determination of 3 people..Gillian Booth at the York Benefits Office, Ryan Bingham and Jackie Hainds at the Blackpool based Disabled Living Allowance Dept. Without them, this entire mess would not only have gone unnoticed but would not have had such a successful ending..my thanks go to them and I have already sent letters to their superiors to that effect too.

I have been looking at cruises online. Some fantastic ones available, just got to wait and see what the cheque comes to and what I want to spend on the holiday really. But the bills and rent come first, so I can really enjoy the holiday without having to worry about the bills etc.

I am thinking of places a bit further afield...found this one that I really like the sound of, leaving in October for 16 nights....

Fly out to Beijing, China and board the ship. Cruise to Nagasaki, Japan, then onto Shanghai, China, then onto Okinawa, Japan, then Taipei, Korea, then to Hong Kong, China, on to Nha Trang in Vietnam, then Vung Tau in Vietnam, onto Singapore and finally Bangkok in Thailand and fly home again.

I just been looking at hotels in Phuket and the Maldives and Dubai....

So jumping off the boat wouldn't work Owen, cos there would be no boat to jump off

You could always do what Pope Benedict XVI did with his old Golf, and get someone to drive you around....

....oh.... wait...no... you might end up driving them round the bend.....

Great minds think alike.

Nothing like a good send-off. Burial? Cremation? Or are you donating your remains to Professor von Hagens?

Everything will be covered so that my next of kin will not have to worry about anything as and when the time comes, its the sensible thing to do, I would have thought. Certainly nothing to make a joke about Ivan.

Its always a good idea to get things sorted, cos you don't know when your number will be up and if you have sorted everything in advance it cuts down the problems for those you leave behind.

that is the exact reason that i have been meaning to sort it out, not for my sake, but for those close. if i was to get hit by a truck or trapped in a machine at work then at least my family would have something to be getting on with.

Found the perfect holiday, if I get permission from the GP.

14 Nights all inclusive of accommodation, travel, meals, drinks and excursions, leaving on the 24th October 05.

Fly from Heathrow overnight by Thai Airways to Bangkok, Thailand, stay for 1 night, then cross the border into Cambodia, staying at Battambang, Siep Reap, Ankor Wat, Phnom Penh then through into Vietnam stopping at Can Tho, Mekong Delta and finishing at Saigon, flying home overnight back to Heathrow. Included in the cost is a visit to the War Museum at Phnom Penh and Saigon and the Cu Chi Tunnel complex and the floating market at Cai Mang.

Travel is by coach and river boat and accomodation in the Mekong Delta is in a village with a family and the rest is in 2 and 3 star hotels.

£1725 all in, which I don't think is bad considering how far the trip goes. I have thought about visiting that area for some time now, always had an interest in the Khmer way of life and the events surrounding the Vietnam War.

Its certainly a holiday I would really enjoy doing cos I like history, architecture and to see countries off the tourist map.
