the pub meet was fun, but too smokey inside for me. can we have a pub garden meet to suit smokers & non-smokers alike?

do you guys know those pubs on the waterfront at Maldon. the one with the large patio garden that directly overlooks the river. you can watch the boats while slurping beer & talking about BM's.

only downside is no proper car park

also, will be way too packed on a sunday afternoon maybe???

Hi all,

So you want another essex meet hey??

Well if thats what you want then i will have to get my thinking cap on!!!

I think Phillip may have a good point in having a meet in maldon as there is a great pub on the seafront great views and a big carpark!!!

Only down side is that sundays are probably the best day for all of us and thats when the pub gets busy!!(maybe we should all take a flask!!)

Please let me know your views

P.S darren get yourself a map!!!haha

Following on from my last post maybe we could make this meet a bit more family orientated ie bring the wife, kids etc..... as promenade park is a nice place to have a meet and chat and is family friendly.

last time I tried to get in the Prom Park carpark it was total log jam, and that was a Sunday afternoon. I had to find somewhere else to park. that may have been a one off though. its pricey to park there too

lets see if anyone else has any ideas

Sorry to run a little off topic, but do you remember me saying the rear end of my car was handling odd?? I checked the tyre pressures yesterday and found the rears to be on 40psi!!!! & the fronts on 20 & 22psi respectively. Drove to gaydon today and it now handles perfect

Guys, I think another meet would be great. Just one thing - the promenade park in Maldon would be a very bad idea before the end of June - they are doing loads of major construction at the moment _ I was there yesterday morning with my family and the access from the car park to the pub is tricky (though still possible), but with all the construction traffic, the whole area is quite dusty & the parking is more restricted than normal. It will a great venue for a family orientated meet when its finished though, the facilities are being totally refurbished & expanded. I'll have a think for an alternative venue

Depends if you're fussed about being able to have a beer as Highlands Park always makes a good meeting spot when the sun is shining.  Plus we can have ice-creams instead of beers  (ironic smiley)

I like this idea. is the house open to the public on sundays? the parklands look lovely in pics. I keep meaning to visit but other stuff always gets in the way

Guys - Hylands house is a great venue - its only a mile from my house too..... so no problem getting there. I don't visit much, howevr from memory the house itself is only open for 2 days per week (Sunday is not one them as far as I know). however the parking is free & the grounds are massive (600 acres) so a good place for a picnic & icecreams

If hylands park is going to be the venue then i will have to pass on it. It's a bit too far away for me really.

Just joined up and residing in North Essex, just taken ownership of a 2003 M3 - come from a VAG background, but nevermind that......

Howabout a meet in Chelmsford, I'm an active longstanding member of Tyresmoke and we (no max power, but all the higher end of the performance cars) meet up at Chelmsford once a month, would that be an opportunity for a meet ?

The likes of GT2's, M3's, S4's, S3's and the odd RS4 and R32 turn up.

The next meet is planned for the 21st June, we are all mature petrolheads and enjoy the banter and the sharing all things automotive.

The meet is well established and thought is a good idea to mix the two together, wives/familys and girlfriends attend as well. I just thought it may be a good idea as ideas for a meet seemed to be floundering.

Sorry, if I've trod on any toes.

Cheers

Pete

hi

there is a pub in maldon at the bottom of the hill, called "the welcome" my uncle owned it a couple of years ago, my sister still runs it so can organise a meet there if you like.

although the car park doesnt have much parking there is a main post office sorting place and an industrial estate round the back of the pub with ample parking and they dont mind people using it.

you can drop me a line on mailto:jonathon@phreaker.net - jonathon@phreaker.net we can sort it out, may even get some free sandwiches!!!
