we have discussed the new A130 from chelmsford down to the A13 before.

on Radio Essex they had a report from the Police. on a recent blitz (their words) Police observed 53% of vehicles exceeding the 70mph limit.

its VERY difficult to stick to 70 on that road. ton up feels like 60.

take care guys and keep your licence intact

Any mention of road safety ?

Were the 53%, although breaking the law, actually causing a danger ?

The A130 is where I recieved my 3 points a couple of years ago.

Didn't get the speed actually recorded but got pulled by a marked car at a not insubstantial speed.  Coughed up to do doing '95', took the three points on the chin and thanked my lucky stars I didn't get really busted.

Drive a lot slower nowadays- there's no real thrill to driving fast down a big straight road in something like an M3 anyway IMHO you can have more fun staying in the limit down some twisty back-roads.

no Nigel, no mention was made of road safety. its a brand new bypass with no side turnings or driveways. its like a M-way with wide lanes and great visibility.

doing people for speeding on this particular road is more about revenue collection.

what are police doing about terribly dangerous driving such as tailgating at speed, changing lanes without checking/signalling, and other horrors we all see every day?

The Police will be doing everything they can during their normal patrols.

Don't mistake the scamera partnerships for the police !

There is however a growing anticar movement in this country that just want the law enforced, they give up a great deal of their time to put forward thier views, they were laughed at for years, but are now, through perseverance being listened to.

As pro car people, we now need to be doing the same.
