I have a question I hope you can answer,

is there a problem with the 2000 E46 318 Ci coupe model,

the reason I ask is that every now and then I have a problem with start up, I turn on the ignition and the rev counter maxes out two maybe three times, She then turnes over but splutters and pops with a little help from my right foot. I have been told " that this is an oil pressure fault", I'm not convinces as She is registering three quarters full on the stick, can this be easily resolved or will it cost me an arm and a leg,

any info would be very much appreciated,
