Ok I,ve bought a 1973 2000 touring that runs like shxt at idle (if at all) and it seems to be down to the carb-a Solex 36/40 pdsi, its in bad shape.  So onto the web I go to get a rebuild kit lots of searches a nd a couple of days later all I,ve gained are questions so if you can please help.

1. Will a  38/40PDSI/T kit do the trick

2. What do people think of this carb.(the solex)

3. Has anyone changed to the weber K909 and what do you think of it

4. anyother sugestions.

Thanks in advance

I guess your not a very technical bunch here anway I'll update in case someone is searching later.

I went with the weber 34ich which is the carb that is with the k909 kit for the bmw 2000/2002 conversion, as its just a bolt on with minor mod to the old throttle lever. (trim with dremel) A simple tune of the idle circuit later and the car runs like a dream.

All in all a very simple conversion and alot less trouble than a rebuild.
