Anyone ever have any problem with the ignition coil pack's that sit atop the spark plug, and are retained by two M5 or M6 bolt's continuously vibrating loose?

I have a coil pack on cylinder 1 which has worked itself loose twice in succession, I don't wanna over tighten in alloy, one of the threads feels solid, the other a bit mushey, It must have been stressed at some point in the past and the threads are not now the best.

I was thinking of using spring washers or friction washers, not going down the thread lock route, but was wondering if any off you guys had any better ideas?

Thanks in advance.

How did you notice this?  Was it during a spark plug change? Or was it due to a miss fire due to sparker #1 not getting a voltage?

I had an idle fault on mine recently, so I checked the security of the bolts and the electrical conenction and all seemed fine.

How are they working loose, they aren't under any great loads?

Have you tried replacing the bolts with new ones?

What torque setting should these bolts be set too?

I would try wrapping the threads of the bolts with PTFE tape.

Andrew

Are the bolts working loose or the studs in the cam cover ?

Only had a Missing and ellectrical shorting sound when the engine was revved whilst cold, I don't mean 6,500 rpm, but just blipping the throttle would cause it. It wasn't during a spark plug change, I noticed it and thought it sounded like a HT electrical fault, also the fact the idle speed hesitated clued me in.

The bolts I'm refferring to e34 are the retaining bolts of the ignition coil for Cyl 1, not the cam cover.

Good thinking on the PTFE tape Andrew, wouldn't have thought of that one, I may just run a tap down the threads to clean them up, worst case if the threads are shot, I'll ream it out and go oversize, the hole in the coil pack is plenty big.
