Hi everyone,
Bought an 85 M6 18mths ago and been very pleased with it needs a few jobs doing to it but don't they all, anyway i was selling it and my 96 Evo to buy a new car the guy that was and still is interesed in it had an hpi check done on the car and it showed that it was an insurance total loss in 94 and a cat 'c' in 2002 obvoiusley he's made a much lower offer than before so i was wondering how much it would be worth if i sold it for spares.
Engine shows 105000 miles and runs superb
original wheels with 2 very good tyres.
Wings and bumpers very good with only small bubbling on arch of one not in the usual place.
Interior very good with no rips or tears.
E.t.c.
Any advice would be great as i don't know to sell or not.

I wouldn't sell it if it's still street legal. There aren't too many survivors left in the UK, and some of the good ones are being snapped up for shipment to Australia....

If engine is on 105,000 miles then my question would be whether it had gone through a timing chain replacement (which apparently has to be done every 100,000 miles or so and is an expensive job).

'total loss'

and

'cat C'

are only in relation to the car's 'value' according to the insurers at the time.

I would try to find out more about what actually happened, and get the car independently valued before looking to sell it.

My two pence worth....
