Subject: Change of venue for our September meeting

We're aware that the location of Seaton Burn does put off folk who live in Co.Durham or Teesside from attending our monthly meeting.

To try to get around this problem, we held an impromptu meeting last night to try to find somewhere further south to meet every second month.

The first location was Ramside Hall, just outside Durham City. The location was superb, although the lounge area was not really suitable (and we don't have enough cash to hire a room at £150 a throw!) Also considering that they have live music on Wednesday evenings, we decided to look else where.

Lizzy PB suggested Bowburn Hall, just off the next junction south (61) from Ramside. This place has a large conservetory area and various meeting rooms available for free hire, provided that they are booked in advance. After a short trip down the motorway, the feeling from those who attended was that this location was ideal. So after speaking to the Hotel's management, it has been adopted as our southern venue. More details can be found here  http://www.bowburnhallhotel.co.uk/ - http://www.bowburnhallhotel.co.uk/

Now the effort has been made to move further south, we hope that we do see many new faces at Bowburn Hall at 8.00pm on Wednesday September 7th.

Thanks

Mick

Mick

It looks like an excellent location, lets hope it brings out some of the members further south.....

I think it's a great idea to have a north and south venue.

Unfortunately I am heading off on my hol's tomorrow and won't be back until the 11th August so yet again I won't be here for the next meeting! I hope to see you all in September unless I see you at an event beforehand...

Cheers Mick.

Hi Grahame,

It was always going to be a gamble making any sort of move from Seaton Burn. Time will tell if we've got this right.

Cheers,

Mick

Mick, Will you be posting up some directions?

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavours last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Down the A1, take the A177 exit, right round the roundabout, take the Bownburn exit. Turn right at the first turn off the road and follow the signs to the hotel.

Depending where you live, Tim, there may be a quicker way for you. If you head out of Durham city on the A177, past Houghal College and the Maiden Law sports centre, keep goin into Bowburn. Take the last turn on the left befoe you get to the A1 on the eastern edge of Bowburn.

A reminder that we're meeting at Bowburn Hall on Wednesday 07/09/05 at 8.00pm instead of Seaton Burn.

We've reserved the Committee Room, which is on the first floor.

Cheers,

Mick

That's good news Graeme.

There's also a chance of another E36 owner coming from E36coupe forum for the first time.

Cheers

Given the effort taken to find a more 'southern' venue for the North East meet, we should all do our best to make the effort to turn up!!

I know there are loads of people that are within EASY distance, members & non-members are welcome!

See y'all Wednesday!

Well, 16 turned up, including four new faces, but bearing in mind the coverage we'd given in the various forums, it was disappointing. We could loose existing members here who cant/won't travel to Bowburn.

The November and January meetings will also be held here and a decission made in February whether to continue, but the attendances will have to improve.

Use it or loose it.
