Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the M1 based on the turbo. Lamborghini were to build it but couldnb't sort themselves out so the contract was then given to Baur ------------- Current: 2009 E60 520d "Sport" tractor Previous: 1989 E30 320i SE 1997 E39 523i 2003 E39 525i Sport Individual |

Apparently Lamborghini went bust while they had the body moulds for the panels, so to get them back the chaps at BM had to break in and pinch them back before the liquidators got hold of them.. WITH REFERENCE TO THE M1: Brainchild of Bimmer's Motorsport Boss Jochen Neerspach... Ital Design did the body, Lamborghini did chassis.Giugiaro 'gave BMW a shape'. Lambo went t1ts up (probably owed some lira to the mafia). TIR supplied the GRP panels. Ital Design put chassis and bodies together in their own premises, and final assembly was by Stuttgart coachbuilders Baur. Reading on the lav' HAS come in handy!
